Sven Holscher was born in Punta Arenas, Chile, in 1986. He studied classical double bass and jazz bass at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater in Munich. During his studies he gained experience in different musical scenarios, ranging from symphony orchestras to contemporary jazz ensembles. Sven found his own musical identity by refining his chord melody technique on electric bass which he successfully presented at the Xjazz Festival Berlin, Überjazz Festival Hamburg, Copenhagen Winter Jazz, amongst others.

Sven Holscher is also one of the most important double bassists of the Tango Scene in Europe and plays concerts in renowned venues such as the Berlin Philharmonie, Laieszhalle Hamburg, Gewandhaus Leipzig and many more.

In 2018, Sven performed at the Holy Grail Guitar Show, where he represented the brand “Kristal Bass”. Since September 2019 he is also an artist member of “Lorita Basses”. He toured Germany, Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Austria, Italy, Switzerland, Poland, Spain, Portugal and Egypt with artists such as Joe Gallardo, Abraham Laboriel, Leszek Zadlo, Dusko Gojkovic, Markus Stockhausen and Quique Sinesi.

His current music project is “Eyarã”, which Holscher complements with his very own sound. He creates a magnificent symbiosis between Latin American folklore, European counterpoint and avant-garde zeitgeist. Text: Susanna Pavlidis
